Tenisha Edwards is a professional vocalist and songwriter based in Bristol. She has a BA Hons Professional Musicianship Degree in Vocals, a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts and 10 years of stage school and theatre training experience.
Tenisha Edwards is a lead vocalist for drum and bass act Dr Meaker who have been on the scene for 12+ years. Tenisha has been a part of the band for 4+ years now. Bristol based and known as one of the hottest UK Live acts right now, the drum'n'bass band have built up a strong following over the years winning the Glastonbury Festival Unsigned competition which gained them BBC Radio 1, 1XTRA, BBC6, XFM and Jazzfm plays and an interview with Zane Lowe. With radio support from: BBC Radio 1: Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens, Pete Tong, Rob da Bank, Mistajam, Edith Bowman, Nick Grimshaw, Annie Mac, Toddla T, Phil Taggart, and BBC Radio 1xtra: Twin B, Ace and Vis, Ras Kwame, MistaJam, Crissy Criss, Trevor Nelson, and many more; breaking into the mainstream stations, some tracks have also been featured on 'Skins' and 'Come Dine With Me' (Channel 4). Signed to 'Circus Records' the latest Dr Meaker album 'Dirt and Soul' went straight to number 3 on the iTunes electronic chart. Touring all the major festivals this year and previous years; the band have a busy year ahead of them and are also branching out of the UK, heading out to Europe and beyond for some shows. “Dr Meaker splices dirt with soul to fire up the soundsystem”
Tenisha is also lead vocalist for Future Dub Orchestra (FDO); a band who incorporate a mix of dub, electronica, and cinematic styles; pushing the boundaries of musical direction. Having played all around the UK and Europe, FDO are working hard to produce new material and take the band further. Recently appearing under management from Bombarda Agency, there are lots of exciting things to follow. FDO toured Europe together in 2017 after the release of the new album 'Echoes' and also had another Europe tour in Summer 2018. Currently in the process of writing the second album 'Louder Than War'; with two new music video releases to add and another one underway the new album will be released in 2020, and another European tour to promote this thereafter. With lots more new content, videos and live shows coming up, there's plenty to be keeping an eye out for!
Other projects include:
Sonder Choir; a gospel choir based in Bristol, ranging from a 5 piece to a 25 piece, performing classic gospel tunes, and remakes of soulful hits. The choir are currently gigging all over and aim to undertake a writing process to get new and original material out into the world. Sonder have sold out their first headline show, played at various weddings, venues, festivals, private parties, and music shows, and performed at two Sofar Sounds sessions in Bristol and Bath. They have gained lots of interest from television shows and various artists for collaborations; two recent artists being 'Javeon' and 'Inglorious Poet'. Urban Jukebox; With a distinct sound that will feed your event with energy and zest, Urban JukeBox will keep you dancing all night. Hailing from across the UK, Urban JukeBox bring a sense of true musicianship and passion to their performance. Urban JukeBox's band members have opened for world renowned and respected acts such as Beverley Knight, Tinie Tempah, Leona Lewis, Olly Murs and many more. They have played on some of the UK’s most sought after stages such as Glastonbury, Bestival, Birmingham's Barclaycard Arena and Symphony Hall to name a few. With a few local UK residencies, our ever growing lineups + unique new music and arrangements being added, we are growing busier than ever so expect to see us somewhere near you soon!
Rhythms Del Toro; a Birmingham based function band with a twist. The RDT members mix Cuban, Latin, and Salsa vibes with some classic English songs, bringing the sounds of Colombia here to the UK. With their permanent residency at The Cuban Embassy (Bulls Head) bar in Moseley, Birmingham, every Friday and Saturday night, the eccentric, ever changing line up gets better each week. Now taking bookings for weddings, festivals, and other external events.
Features with Andy Compton; Bristol based house producer Andy has released over 25 albums on his label Peng, and also under the name 'The Rurals'. He mixes soul and funk, incorporates African grooves and has since received huge support in South Africa and America; touring these countries at least twice a year. Peng has received support from big names in the house scene - Louie Vega, Larry Heard, Mark Farina and Osunlade, and he continues to create eclectic music.

Vocal Dep; Tenisha deps for various originals and covers projects, and often works with agencies: Front Of House Management (FOH) and FD Entertainments for: duo, trio and full band gigs for holiday parks, functions, events, pubs, clubs, bars, weddings, parties, ferries and cruise ships, covering gigs for Motown bands, funk projects, and bv's for tribute acts.
Tenisha is also in the process of creating her own solo project under the name 'Tenisha Edwards', with new music to appear on the horizon in 2020. She is available for booking as a recording artist, session vocalist or as a vocal dep.
